RDL + Shrug. I input shrugs into my RDL mostly fo RDL + Shrug.  I input shrugs into my RDL mostly for grip strength since I have to hold on longer. Some exercises I will do combos such as RDL to Row or Clean High Pull to Hang Power Clean. It’s a great way to add variation into your workout while keeping your body under tension longer.

Some have a tendency to lean forward to much which can put you in an awkward position. Keep your body tight as hell when sitting down so you won’t lose any tension or core stability. Deadlifts are one of my favorite exercises to do. Deadlifts are one of my favorite exercises to do. The set up is one of the most important thing as if your set up is not spot on it will hinder your lift and could cause injuries. 

When coaching my athletes I use different set ups to find the optimal position for their body (limb length, mobility). 

Putting everyone in the same deadlift position will not work and is a lazy way of coaching. Take the time and work with your athletes so they can benefit the most.

I incorporate this type of training with some of our teams where we are not able to spend a lot of time in the weight room or with clients who have busy lives.

Using different strength phases will help keep you progressing even if you only do barbell training with the compound lifts. 

Yes when I train my athletes I include sport specific exercises and variations of certain exercises during different phases as this helps refine their strength, power and speed so they can be peaking when it’s time to compete. However we work in 4 week blocks before changing exercises.

We still do full C&J but it’s good to break the movements down and work on sticking points or limiters.

Hardest part for me is keeping nutrition in check during winter time but we all need challenges to keep us dedicated and progressing.

When I was down in the dumps three years ago, I stumbled upon the ironman video anything is possible. It changed everything. I immediately signed up for a half. I didn't train at all because I thought how hard could it be? I failed miserably in the first few seconds. I thought, I'm not giving up until I do this so signed up again. I took swim lessons at the YMCA. Again I failed. I signed up for a third time and trained a little harder on my own and still came up short.
